Waiting to Exhale

Estonian model Carmen Kass possesses that indefinable, elusive 'it' factor which keeps designers, casting directors and photographers at her beck and call, and which aspiring models covet. Scouted at the age of fourteen in a supermarket in Tallinn, Kass saw modelling as a means to a better life and a ticket outside of Estonia. Kass along with fellow models Gisele Bundchen, Karolina Kurkova and Natalia Vodianova defined the look for the new millennium, walking for virtually every notable fashion house and appearing on magazine covers for American Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Paris Vogue and Vanity Fair. Kass' popularity shows no signs of waning at age thirty-three, with recent stunning editorial appearances in British Vogue, Love Magazine, V and Interview Germany. The secret to Kass' longevity is no doubt her ability to reinvent herself with each photo shoot, her sardonic wit and gregarious nature, and her multi-faceted personality (she ran for European Parliament in 2004 and was at one stage the President to the Estonian National Chess League).
