The Shock of the New

Photographer Steven Meisel forecasts modelling's trends with a hauntingly beautiful cover for the July 2012 issue of Vogue Italia. Just when you think you've seen it all, Meisel takes Vogue Italia readers on a gothic inspired trip to a concrete jungle playground with six of the standout faces of the Fall/Winter 2012 collections. Rising talents Vanessa Axente, Mackenzie Drazan, Julia Nobis, Elena Bartels, Erjona Ala and Lida Fox make their debut appearance on the Vogue Italia cover wearing Gucci gowns with styling by Karl Templer. The models look ominous as they stare menacingly at the lens whilst perched on a swing set and a uni-bicycle with tulle and gauze catching the wind. I only hope that Vogue Italia's gorgeously brooding cover is not a forecast for the European Summer season ahead of us.
