Charlotte's Web

One newcomer that I will be keeping a firmly trained eye on during the up-coming Spring/Summer 2013 collections is the illuminating Charlotte Carey. Hailing from Burbank, California, Carey is anything but your quintessential all-American girl. Carey in fact, possesses one of the most intriguing faces that I have seen in recent times and owes her unique looks to a mix of Indonesian and English heritage. Nineteen-year-old Carey has been modelling since 2009 and is duly represented by agency powerhouse IMG Model Management. The diminutive 173 cm Eurasian beauty has been modelling steadily, building her industry presence with editorial appearances for Oyster Magazine, Allure, French Glamour, and the Chinese and Latin American editions of Vogue. Campaign work for the likes of Rock & Republic, the Gap, Cole Haan, BCBGeneration and Nordstrom, all point towards Carey's undeniable commercial market appeal.

Recent American Elle and French Numéro editorial appearances however herald a shift in IMG's marketing approach of Carey, with a distinct emphasis on amping up her high fashion relevance. Carey stars alongside model of the moment Caroline Brasch Nielsen captured by Greg Kadel for the August 2012 issue of French Numéro.  The editorial entitled "Party Girls" features Carey in her element, as a high fashion vixen in varying stages of undress. In recent casting polaroids for Art + Commerce Production and Terry Richardson, Carey is rendered virtually unrecognisable thanks to newly bleached eye brows and a seriously runway-ready zombie-like stare. Carey debuted last year at the Spring/Summer 2012 New York collections walking for Graeme Armour, Norman Ambrose, Electric Feathers, and Suzanne Rae. I am certain that with her astonishing new look and burgeoning editorial portfolio that Carey will be on the radar of the most influential casting directors and designers in the lead up to the Spring/Summer 2013 collections.
