Eye of the Tiger

Catherine McNeil's return to modelling following an extended hiatus has not been without a period of upheaval, which has involved a change of representation from Next Models Management defecting to the newly revamped Ford Models Agency. Following the fashion industry's lukewarm response to McNeil's return to the international runway circuit at the Spring/Summer 2012 collections in which she logged a show tally of eight shows, the  Australian beauty has again jumped ship, this time landing squarely on the shores of boutique agency Marilyn Model Management. Established since 1998 in New York, Marilyn Models has a reputation as an agency dedicated to carefully nurturing the careers of its roster of beauties which include current industry favourites Liu Wen, Constance Jablonski, Arlenis Sosa, Josephine Skriver, Marie Piovesan, Madison Headrick and Lindsey Wixson. I believe that it is this personal, more hands on management approach which is necessary to resurrect McNeil's modelling career.

Modelling since 2007, McNeil was initially championed by photographer Mario Testino, who signed her to an exclusive six month contract during the early stages of her career. McNeil's sultry looks and athletic robust frame harking back to the days of the original supers, were high on rotation in publications including V Magazine, French Numéro, and the American, French, British and Australian editions of Vogue. McNeil's cat-like eyes and tempestuous pout have fronted blue chip campaigns for Donna Karan, Versace, Hugo Boss, Jean Paul Gaultier, Givenchy, Louis Vuitton and Dolce & Gabbana. At the height of her success in 2009, McNeil citing "personal and health reasons" disappeared from the modelling sphere for a period of 18 months. Judging by these recent snaps taken by Terry Richardson, McNeil clearly still emanates an incredulous beauty and presence, in addition to a smattering of artsy tattoos on her ears, neckline and hands. With Marilyn Model Management's guidance, I'm hoping that the fashion industry will again rekindle its interest in this fascinating and enigmatic beauty.
