Paris in the Summer When it Sizzles

My love affair with Paris began at age eighteen during my first visit to the city of romance, shimmering lights and majestic, long sweeping boulevards. Whilst every city possesses its own individual charm, very few can compare to the intoxicating allure that Paris exudes. Paris Vogue captures the magic of the city of its namesake with an editorial shot by Mario Sorrenti paying homage to the late great Parisian photographer Édouard Boubat. Starring French models Aymeline Valade and Clement Chabernaud, Sorrenti immortalises the pair in scenes reminiscent of Boubat's romantic imagery of Paris and its inhabitants following World War II. In reference to his pre-occupation with love and beauty, Boubat explains "Because I know war... because I know horror, I don't want to add to it... After the war we felt the need to celebrate life, and for me photography was the means to achieve this." Sorrenti does a brilliant job in capturing the beauty, simplicity and charm of a life not so long ago.
