And then there were Ten

As the final curtain comes down on Paris Fashion Week, the time has come for Inoubliable Model Army to take stock of the trials and tribulations of the past month of fashion mayhem to come up with a definitive list of Top Ten Newcomers for the season. Before the Spring/Summer 2013 collections kicked off in New York, I had already sifted through the agency show packages in search of new faces to keep an eye out for at castings, fittings, on the street and at the shows. I was astounded more than ever this season by the vast number of new models that are being introduced to a market that is already over-saturated with young pretty women chasing big hopes and dreams.

In my assessment of the models in contention for a spot in Inoubliable Model Army's Top Ten Newcomers List, there are a number of key factors that come into consideration. Above all, the model must make a lasting impression whether it be with her presence, beauty, personality and/or charisma. I first became interested in models at a time when a core group of women, led by Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington, ruled the runways and indeed the fashion industry itself with their versatile looks, star power and individual allure. The girls that I have selected amongst this season's most promising new faces are no doubt genetically blessed, but this is only a secondary part of their appeal.

Each model possesses that indefinable "it" factor which can only be summed up as a feeling that you get the second she walks into the room or sets foot on the runway. I'm interested in faces that present something new or that perhaps the industry hasn't seen in a while, that is the element of surprise. Last season, Eritrean newcomer Grace Mahary made Inoubliable Model Army's Top Ten Newcomers List, based on her singular exclusive appearance at Givenchy. I am delighted to say that Mahary has fulfilled that promise with a stellar Spring/Summer 2013 season, emerging as one of the standout stars of the collections. I firmly believe that the fashion industry and the public are hankering for a new generation of models whose distinctive beauty and personalities are more in keeping with what it truly means to be a top model. The ten newcomers that Inoubliable Model Army will be presenting over the next few days are ready to seize their moment in the spotlight, the key question though is are you?
