Back to Basics

Following a month dedicated to covering the Spring/Summer 2013 collections, it's time for Inoubliable Model Army to get back to basics with the best in fashion editorial content. This month British Vogue showcases the multi-faceted charms of Joan Smalls in an editorial shot by Karim Sadli. Entitled "Coming Clean", Smalls dons the minimalist pieces characterised by clean lines, practicality and sporty silhouettes. Smalls adopts a tough buffalo stance in these ensembles built for comfort replete with sneakers and rubber soled flats. In an interview with Derek Blasberg for the October 2012 issue of British Harpers Bazaar, Smalls reveals her true alter ego, "I was the tomboy. I was always getting messy, falling down and scratching my knees. I grew up on a farm. There was a turkey that would attack me when I was a kid. My father told me I had to stick up for myself, so one day I picked up a rock and hit him with it." With her current models.com status as the number 1 ranked model in the world, Smalls no longer requires the rock to hold her own.
