Set Adrift

W Magazine courts controversy post-Sandy with an editorial featuring Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova marooned in a room submerged in water. Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott photograph the thirty year old veteran model in selected pieces by Miu Miu, Jean Paul Gaultier, Prada and Balenciaga with styling courtesy of Edward Enninful. Vodianova struggles to remain adrift as she clambers across a writing desk, arm chairs and a bed covered in a red velvet bed spread for dramatic effect. Vodianova remains one of the most sought after faces in modelling and looks set to branch out into acting, co-starring alongside Jonathan Rhys Meyers in the soon-to-be released film "Belle de Seigneur." Set during World War II, Vodianova plays the role of a married Swiss woman who embarks on a torrid love affair with a Jewish diplomat in an adaptation of Albert Cohen's 1968 novel bearing the same name. Surely it's only a matter of time before American Vogue cottons on with an editorial of cinematic proportions featuring Vodianova and Meyers as star-crossed lovers.
