Exclusive Interview - Joséphine Le Tutour

Elite Model Look 2011 finalist Josephine Le Tutour heads the new battalion of French beauties currently storming fashion's runways. Le Tutour was one of the standout newcomers for Spring/Summer 2013 along with her fellow compatriots Marine Deleeuw, Pauline Hoarau, Manon Le Loup, and established models Julia Frauche, Marie Piovesan and Aymeline Valade, heralding a return to elegance and an aspirational type of beauty. Marked for early success during the Spring/Summer 2013 collections thanks to her Calvin Klein exclusive appearance in New York, Le Tutour went on to appear in a staggering 29 shows including Burberry Prorsum, Fendi, Missoni, Just Cavalli, Vanessa Bruno and Saint Laurent. Le Tutour possesses a cinematic beauty that is reminiscent of blue-blooded English actress Charlotte Rampling and France's former First Lady and supermodel Carla Bruni. The combination of Le Tutour's sophisticated yet natural beauty, and her irresistible French charm lend her a certain "je ne sais quoi', which will no doubt land her on casting director's must see lists for the upcoming Fall/Winter 2013 season.

Inoubliable Model Army: Salut Joséphine, congratulations on your stunning Spring/Summer 2013 season! You were initially discovered via the Elite Model Look competition in 2011 where you were a finalist. How did you come to enter the competition and did the EML prepare you for the realities of the modelling world?
JLT: I went to a casting in France and finished first, so I then went to the World Finals in Shanghai where I placed in the top 15. I think that the Elite Model Look was a great opportunity to learn the most important aspects of modelling!

Inoubliable Model Army: Whereabouts are you from in France, what are your ethnic origins, and how old are you?
JLT: I'm from Camors, in the north-west of France. I'm 100% French and 18 years old.

Inoubliable Model Army: You were on an option for a Balenciaga exclusive during the Fall/Winter 2012 season which eventually feel through. You then came back last season debuting at New York fashion week as an exclusive at Calvin Klein! What are your views on the power of "exclusives" and its capacity to make or break a new model's career?
JLT: From my own experience, I'm sure that it's positive to do an exclusive for a new face!

Inoubliable Model Army: You had an amazing Spring/Summer 2013 season, walking for the likes of Burberry Prorsum, Fendi, Saint Laurent, Missoni and John Galliano. What were the highlights of the season for you and what are you hoping to achieve at the upcoming Fall/Winter 2013 shows.
JLT: For me the best moments of Spring/Summer 2013 were walking for Fendi and Yves Saint Laurent. Next season, I'm hoping to add Chanel to the list!

Inoubliable Model Army: French girls were totally killing it this season on the runways! What factors do you feel are contributing to the current popularity of French models amongst casting directors and designers?
JLT: I think French models are very in fashion because they are natural beauties and have a lot of personality in their faces.

Inoubliable Model Army: One of the most enjoyable aspects of the show season is witnessing the camaraderie backstage monist the models. Were you able to form any close friendships in between the madness of castings, fittings and the shows?
JLT: Sure, a lot of my closest friends though are girls that I had already met through the Elite Model Look including Lieve Danau, Marine Deleeuw, Pauline Hoarau and Marilhéa Peillard.

Inoubliable Model Army: Last year, you travelled to my hometown of Sydney in Australia with your pal and fellow Frenchie Pauline Hoarau. Did you like Australia and what were you general impressions?
JLT: I liked Australia a lot, Sydney is a really nice city with lovely people!

Inoubliable Model Army: French women are renowned for their style. How would you describe your street style?
JLT: I think I'm quite casual with a bit of a rock 'n' roll edge. I don't have one single style though... it depends on my mood.

Inoubliable Model Army: What do you like or dislike most about modelling?
JLT: I love that I get to meet a lot of amazing people and the least desirable part is the time spent alone.

Inoubliable Model Army: Describe your character using a few words.
JLT: I'm calm and determined, and impatient! My best quality is being natural.

Inoubliable Model Army: What makes you "Inoubliable" (Unforgettable)?
JLT: What makes me memorable: I'm not sure how to answer to this question because I find it hard to have an outside opinion of myself but I think perhaps it could be my French touch! Because when I am interviewed in foreign countries, I'm told that my French accent is cute.
