Life Savers

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, American Vogue pays tribute to the coastal life guards, the police and emergency services, as well as the hospitals and humanitarian aid organisations that have been helping to get New Yorkers back on their feet. The editorial shot by Annie Leibovitz features top models Liu Wen, Arizona Muse, Karlie Kloss, Chanel Iman, Kasia Struss, and Joan Smalls alongside the the city's bravest and most dedicated storm troupers. Annie Leibovitz captures the every day heroics of aid workers, fire men, and doctors and nurses while showcasing the best of the Spring/Summer 2013 New York collections on a star studded cast of models. Chanel Iman returns to American Vogue's pages following a noticeable absence while Polish veteran Kasia Struss almost steals the limelight from the unveiling of Karlie Kloss' new shag hairstyle. Fashion antics aside, it is the cast of heroic emergency service men and women who demonstrate that a sense of community never goes out of fashion.
