New Kids On the Block

H&M champions the next generation of budding supers with its Spring/Summer 2013 'New Icons' campaign featuring Liu Wen, Joan Smalls, Daphne Groeneveld, and Lindsey Wixson. Photographer Alasdair McLellan and stylist Clare Richardson imbue the campaign images with a refreshingly modern take on the model as muse, with a clear focus being on the individual personalities and street style of the stunning quartet. Wen, Smalls, Wixson and Groeneveld collectively represent the embodiment of global beauty, hailing respectively from China, Puerto Rico, the Untied States, and the Netherlands. H&M cleverly taps into Wixson's boho chic, Wen's tomboyish elegance, Groeneveld's seamless transition from sweet teen to budding bombshell, and Smalls' harmonious blend of high fashion and casual street attire. Styling tips aside, what this campaign represents more than anything is the public's returning interest in models as personalities with opinions and insights that count.
