Skin Deep

Having spent the past three years in Berlin, I had forgotten just how fitness-obsessed and outdoors lifestyle oriented Australians are. Since returning to Sydney's sunny shores, it has come as a bit of a culture shock to be greeted by a seemingly endless parade of trim, taut and terrific looking life pedestrians. I can say with my hand on my heart that Sydney hosts a truly magnificent and diverse array of good looking folk and it is entirely understandable that Australia has emerged in recent years as one of the top three model scouting locations in the world. Being back home has also afforded the opportunity to catch up on all of the local fashion publications which I have not been able to get my hands on in Europe. Australian Marie Claire encapsulates the healthy Australian outdoors lifestyle with an editorial featuring Laura Blokhina and male model Sebastian Sauvé. The perfectly toned specimens pose for David Gubert utilising a myriad of fitness related props including skateboards, a bike, basketballs and the obligatory surfboard, all the whilst clad in Alexander Wang, Jil Sander, Acne, and local designers Toni Maticevski, Dion Lee, Ksubi, and Ellery.
