The Restless Years

No publication captures the essence of popular youth culture as succinctly as Indie mag Dazed & Confused. With its non-formulaic eclectic approach to fashion, art, music, and design, Dazed & Confused never fails to surprise with its monthly editorial offerings. July 2013 is no exception, with photographer Richard Burbridge shooting the Fall/Winter 2013 season's most intriguing newcomers in Saint Laurent's Cali-inspired grunge collection. Bearing the title "Young and Restless", new faces Kayley Chabot, Maria Bradley, Anmari Botha, Kremi Otashliyska, Maria Loks, and Gryphon O'Shea embrace Hedi Slimane's Fall/Winter 2013 take on grunge with the kind of nonchalance that you would come to expect from the current generation of too cool for school rising new stars. The editorial includes a mini-Q&A which delves into the beauty aesthetic of each model with questions such as "When do you feel most beautiful?" and "What's your beauty philosophy - overstated or understated?" My favourite response comes courtesy of Kiwi expat Anmari Botha, "Just do and feel what makes you happy. A happy person is a beautiful person."
