Uncompromising Vision

Photographer Paolo Roversi collaborates with Robbie Spencer for Spencer's debut issue as Fashion Director of Dazed & Confused, creating an editorial of stunning visual force. Models Ondria Hardin, Marie Piovesan, Kati Nescher, and Vanessa Axente play muse to Roversi and Spencer for the issue's "Trash & Burn" theme, creating couture like images crafted from recycled materials. The thirty page editorial consists of a portfolio of nude portraits, beauty shots and dreamy couture-like imagery. Italian-born Roversi remains one of fashion photography's true visionaries, having commenced his career by assisting British fashion photographer Laurence Sackman in 1974. Roversi assisted Sackman for nine months before venturing out on his own working for publications including Elle, Marie Claire, Harper's Bazaar Italia, Vogue Italia, and British Vogue. Roversi's use of large format polaroid film for colour and black-and-white photography combined with his preference for studio shoot settings, has over the years earned him a reputation as a master photographer capable of conveying an intimacy, romanticism, and tenderness rarely seen in contemporary fashion photography.
