Barcelona Baby - Dalianah Arekion

All eyes were trained on Spanish newcomer Dalianah Arekion when she made her international runway debut as a Givenchy exclusive during the Fall/Winter 2013 collections. The 17 year old Santander native was signed by Traffic Models in Barcelona a little over a year ago after having sent her pictures into the agency. Designer Riccardo Tisco who is one of the industry's key supporters of diversity in modelling, was so taken by Arekion's intriguing mix of Spanish and Mauritian ancestry that he selected the newcomer to open for his collection and to front the accompanying Fall/Winter 2013 campaign imagery lensed by Mert & Marcus. Arekion continues to build momentum and interest leading into the Spring/Summer 2013 show season with a V Magazine editorial entitled "Carine's Sweet 16" and styled by Carine Roitfeld. Shot by Sebastian Faena with a Mies Van der Rohe Barcelona Chair and a Walt Disney children's mini-suitcase as the story's central props, Arekion is captured recoiling and peering out from her vantage position as she channels Carine Roitfeld during her early modelling days. As one of the few Spanish models to be achieving international recognition, Arekion's appearance in Givenchy's Spring/Summer 2014 cookbook and recent editorials for V and Teen Vogue photographed by Sebastian Kim has industry watchers heralding her as the face to watch as the Spring/Summer 2014 season unfolds.
