Clear Cut - Ashleigh Good

Inoubliable Model Army derives particular satisfaction in witnessing the evolution of a model as he/she makes the journey from being a relative unknown to a celebrated darling of the fashion set. One newcomer who has undergone an incredible transformation in confidence and physical appearance, is the rough Kiwi diamond Ashleigh Good. IMA met the twenty-one year old New Zealander during the Spring/Summer 2013 season at castings for Altuzarra and Oscar de la Renta. At the time, Good sported a blunt fringe and shoulder length hair which did little to compliment her extraordinary bone structure and haunting icy baby blues. Following an inconsistent show season in New York which saw the 183 cm debuting at Alexander Wang followed by singular appearances at Theysken's Theory and Louise Goldin, Good's runway options improved considerably in London and Milan with appearances at Acne, Christopher Kane, Giles, Erdem, Versus, Marni, and Missoni. It wasn't until the final leg of the Spring/Summer 2013 season that Good showed her true colours, emerging in Paris at Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, Pedro Lourenco, and Givenchy with a dramatic make-over in the form of a nape grazing bob which rendered her instantly recognisable and more importantly memorable in any show line-up.

During the ten months since our initial encounter, Good has emerged as one of the most sought after faces on the international runway circuit, logging a blistering trail through 65 show bookings at the recent Fall/Winter 2013 collections. Good was the muse of choice for many design houses, opening for Kaufmanfranco, Thakoon, Fendi, MaxMara, Cédric Charlier, Chanel, and Giambattista Valli. An avalanche of editorial bookings rapidly followed suit for CR Fashion Book, Russh, Australian Vogue, American Harper's Bazaar, Vogue Italia, German Vogue, Russian Numéro, and W. With the Fall/Winter 2013 campaign season unfolding, Good has already surfaced in two blue chip campaign offerings for MaxMara and Chanel, confirming her status as one of the few breakthrough runway stars to consolidate with key editorial and campaign slots. Designer Karl Lagerfeld is clearly enamoured with the androgynous beauty's tough chic, having photographed her for German Vogue, Russian Numéro, and for Chanel's Fall/Winter 2013 campaign. Good's meteoric rise through modelling's ranks reflects the significance of projecting an aesthetic that is inspirational to designers and casting directors, combined with a rough around the edges natural beauty and a quiet confidence that requires nurturing over time.
