On the Brink - Ashleigh Good

New Zealand model Ashleigh Good hits the major league landing Vogue Italia's November 2013 cover lensed by resident storyteller Steven Meisel. Good takes on the role of reclusive American socialite, model and cabaret performer Edith Bouvier Beale, who was also first cousin to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Lee Radziwill. Entitled "Desperate Living" the editorial mirrors the latter years of Beale's life spent in self-imposed isolation with her mother at their East Hampton Estate 'Grey Gardens'. Fashion Editor Marie-Amélie Sauvé adorns Good with an array of signature patterned head scarves which Beale wore to conceal the dramatic hair loss triggered by the onset of a condition called alopecia totalis during her early thirties. The genius of Meisel is in full flight as Good conveys the loneliness, sadness, and disillusionment of dreams forgotten and unfulfilled. Good rises to the occasion in eclectic mishmash ensembles derived from the Fall/Winter 2013 collections of Maison Martin Margiela, Céline, Chloé, and Saint Laurent. Meisel's uncanny ability to fuse the worlds of fashion, art, and history provide the impetus for his muses to truly showcase their full modelling prowess.
