Hamburg native Sophia Ahrens possesses the kind of powerful femininity that was a dominant theme on runways throughout the Fall/Winter 2015 collections. Ahrens is a perfect example of how monumental things come to those who wait, having been scouted at age 12 before exploding onto the modelling scene in 2013 via a Fall/Winter 2013 Prada campaign lensed by Steven Meisel. Ahrens stepped back from modelling to complete her high school education leaving industry watchdogs perplexed over her absence from fashion's runways. Nineteen year old Ahrens reemerged at the Fall/Winter 2015 collections with a poised womanly confidence and presence which resonated with each step on the catwalk. Ahrens left no doubt as to who the leader of the pack was as she navigated seven key opening slots for BCBG Max Azria, Thakoon, Narciso Rodriguez, Marni, Trussardi, David Koma, Joseph, and Anthony Vaccarello. With a staggering tally of 59 show bookings, casting directors and designers were unified in their enthusiasm over the returning runway renegade. Ahren's imposing 180 cm silhouette, natural ease and elegance, coupled with the kind of beauty reminiscent of the early 90s supers ensures this relative newcomer is here for the long haul.
