Top Ten Newcomers S/S 16 - Yasmin Wijnaldum

The buzz surrounding Dutch newcomer Yasmin Wijnaldum was discernible in the lead up to the Spring/Summer 2016 season based on her stunning debut at Valentino's Haute Couture show. It came as no surprise to model aficionados when Wihjnaldum reemerged in grand fashion as an exclusive at Prada in Milan before hightailing it to Paris leaving her compatriots flailing in her red hot trail. Wijnaldum's pristine show list included appearances at Chloé, Anthony Vaccarello, Loewe, Valentino, Lanvin, Giambattista Valli, Carven, Paul & Joe, Esteban Cortezar, and Kenzo. Displaying an admirable versatility, Wijnaldum played vamp at Vaccarello before switching gears to it girl about town at Chloé and mythical goddess for Valentino. The seventeen year old ingenue was initially discovered at the finals of the Elite Model Look Netherlands in 2014 and her bi-racial beauty courtesy of mixed Dutch and Surinamese heritage has drawn inevitable comparisons to the early nineties top model Brandi Quinones. Towering at 178 cm with a tempestuous pout, startling blue eyes, and a flawless caramel complexion, Wijnaldum looks set to continue her dream run as the Spring/Summer 2016 editorial and campaign season unfolds.
